I don’t know how many times have I changed my preferred task manger app. For many many years it was Google Tasks. The team at ToDoist just announced a new plugin for Postbox, and a full rewrite of the ToDoist Outlook plugin. This brings ToDoist email integration support to four of the largest email platforms, including Gmail and Thunderbird. It’s very quick, simple, and free. Though Google hasn’t discontinued Google Tasks I would say it’s obsolete. It may be the but I’m pretty sure that Google Tasks will be among Google’s Spring cleaning list someday. Because they haven’t updated it for several years, there’s no mobile app, and they haven’t even updated its favicon (it’s ugly now). Recently I switched to the award winning to do list app. It’s a good alternative to Google Tasks but I had to switch back to as it lacked a web version and I experienced few syncing issues. Then I continued my quest for that perfect task manager app and finally landed on Todoist’s. I select my mobile apps based on some criteria like – name, icon, design, and the usability. So even before trying an app some of them get filtered out. I don’t like apps with generic names as I prefer something unique. And when it comes to the icon it must be professional and something classy. Finally, it must offer a good user experience. Todoist: It’s The Best Task Manager App You’ll Ever Need. Download the Todoist plugin for Outlook, Google Chrome, Firefox, or Thunderbird and you can turn an e-mail message into a task. It’s The Best Google Tasks Alternative When you try Todoist’s web app, the first thing you would notice is the speed and usability. If you tried Google Tasks then you know that it’s simple and loads almost instantly. It’s the same for Todoist. Cross-platform Support At first I thought Todoist an iOS only app but was surprised to see its support for other platforms. It’s obviously the first thing that you will notice on their website. Todoist has an app for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android Phone, and Android Tablet. Also, it’s got browser extensions for Google Chrome & Mozilla Firefox and add-ons for Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird. Supports Formatting & Human Dates You can use their short codes or the [Ctrl + B]/[Ctrl + I] keys to add bold and italic texts. Again, you can also add hyperlinks with anchors using a simple short code. Another interesting feature of the app is its support for human dates. You can enter dates using words instead of numbers. Go to Todoist > Help & Reference > Inserting dates and times for usage reference. Create Sub-tasks, Sub-projects & Set Priorities With Todoist you can create unlimited tasks and it supports sub-tasks and sub-projects so that you can organize your lists in an organized way. You can set priorities (up to 4 levels) for each task and can assign colors to each project. Offline Access Todoist supports HTML5 and it allows offline for its web app. If you’re offline then it warns you and will enter into an offline mode.
